India successfully test-fired an indigenously developed quick reaction surface-to-air short range missile (QR-SAM) from a test range along the Odisha coast on Sunday. Developed by India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics Ltd., QR-SAM has a range of 20 to 30 km and is capable of engaging multiple targets. The missile was fired from a truck-mounted 360° rotatable, electro-mechanically operated canister launcher. This was the first time launch of QR-SAM weapon system.
The missile was designed as a quick reaction weapon and can track and destroy its targets in all-weather conditions.
