Honeywell strengthens its position as a regional headquarters in its 30th year in Türkiye. Bringing Ecofining technology to the Turkish energy sector, Honeywell assumed the role of the main technology supplier in Tüpraş’s project to produce the first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in our country.

Honeywell, which has a wide range of services from providing control systems to refineries and petrochemical facilities, to providing hardware and software support for civil and military aviation institutions, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in Türkiye.

The company has allocated approximately 60 percent of its 2021 R&D expenditures to solutions that improve environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) outcomes for its customers. Battery-powered energy storage systems, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, hydrogen production and use technologies, carbon capture and storage technologies, refrigerants with low global warming potential, chemical recycling technologies of plastic are among the main topics Honeywell works on.

Uygar Doyuran, President of Honeywell Türkiye, Israel and Central Asia, emphasized Honeywell’s contributions and commitment to the Turkish industry in his message for the 30th anniversary and said: ‘’Many leading institutions and companies in Türkiye gain competitive advantage all over the world with Honeywell’s technological and technical support. We are proud to contribute to our business partners, customers and Turkish economy in the last 30 years and to support our country’s digital transformation journey. In the past 30 years, we have positioned Turkey as our regional headquarters in order to further increase Türkiye’s strategic importance in the region. We will continue to be among the key providers of digital transformation and innovative sustainability solutions and support economic growth.’’

Doyuran continued his words as follows: “Airline companies in our country have been growing steadily over the last few years and they still have tremendous growth opportunities ahead of them. They currently fly to many different destinations and offer the best service in their category at competitive prices. In addition, tourism is one of the strongest sectors in Türkiye. Türkiye has become a major global hub for all airlines. Our major civil aviation customers such as Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and Sun Express use Honeywell products and services. For example, one of our largest customers, Turkish Airlines Teknik Inc. is our solution partner and has a global “Honeywell channel partner” license. This license enables them to serve all airlines on behalf of Honeywell. We are proud of our contributions to the aviation industry and will continue to support our business partners in strategic areas that provide rapid growth and global competitive advantage.”

Honeywell’s corporate customers in Türkiye include big companies such as Tüpraş, Socar, TANAP, Şişecam, Erdemir, Botaş, Istanbul Airport and Biotrend Energy. Honeywell provides these companies with technologies designed to help maximize the safety, security, productivity and efficiency of their operations. Using Honeywell’s innovation in areas such as plastics circularity, sustainable aviation fuel and industrial digital transformation, these companies will continue to add new features to their investments and products.

Expressing his views on the subject, Doyuran said: “Honeywell Ecofining technology used by Tüpraş is very important. Because renewable fuels obtained from waste raw materials are the key to reducing the carbon footprint in the oil industry and ensuring compliance with the legislation. Thus, Tüpraş is the largest Sustainable Ecofining technology in our country. It will be ensured that it becomes an Aviation Fuel supplier. As Honeywell, we are happy to implement this technology, which we pioneered, for the first time in our country, together with Tüpraş. We are even happy to announce that we have won the ‘I AmChamPion Sustainability Award’ given by AmCham this year with this cooperation. Another striking example is Biotrend Energy. The company plans to establish Türkiye ‘s first commercial waste plastic recycling facility using Honeywell’s UpCycle Process Technology. The facility will have the capacity to convert 60,000 metric tons of mixed waste plastic per year into Honeywell Recycled Polymer Raw Material using Honeywell technology. The facility to be established in the Aegean region will be able to recycle waste plastics up to 90 percent.

In addition, Honeywell is preparing to establish Türkiye ‘s first commercial waste plastic recycling facility in the Aegean Region with Biotrend Energy. The facility, which will use Honeywell technology, is planned to recycle 60,000 metric tons of mixed waste plastic annually.
