The laser guided kits produced by ASELSAN for the Turkish Air Force Command entered the Turkish Armed Forces' inventory. Additionally, the ammunition transformed into guided version was claimed to be put in use immediately in military operations. With the laser guiding kits attached to classical MK-82 (500 Libre) and MK-84 (2000 Libre) ammunition is able to engage to its target with pinpoint precision. The ammunition then becomes what is called a 'smart bomb'.
The MK-82 and MK-84 bombs affects where they hit without discriminating targets. Laser-guided versions, on the other hand, directly hit their target, creating the highest effect. Thus, it becomes unnecessary to use more effective and bigger ammunition when the effect is limited with the target.
