According to information released by china’s Defence Ministry in January 2021, the first 10,000-ton Haixun 09 patrol ship, built with local resources, will be put into service by the middle of this year.
The country’s largest patrol ship, which will act under the Maritime Security Administration of the People’s Republic of China, will provide services such as naval outpost, emergency coordination and command.
The platform has a displacement of 10,700 tons and a length of 165 meters and can reach a speed of 25 knots. Construction of the ship began in 2009. Haixun 09, which can be used operationally for more than 90 days, has a marine data centre with multiple satellite communication systems, including the Beidou Navigation Satellite System.
Cao Desheng, director of china’s Maritime Security Administration, says the ship will help strengthen maritime traffic control and emergency support, ensure safe and trouble-free maritime transportation, and protect the country’s maritime interests.
