Gezgin Missile’s Engine to Be Delivered to Turkey in 2021

A contract was signed with Ukraine-based company Ivchenko-Progress to power the cruise missile developed by Turkey as part of the Gezgin project. With this agreement, it was announced that 12 AI-35 engines would be produced.

New documents published on the ProZorro public platform show that Ivchenko-Progress purchased 200 parts for the AI-35 engine.

Features of a design of this engine demand small-sized and at the same time high-energy means for reliable ignition of fuel-air mix in the combustion chamber.

The engines are planned to be delivered to Turkey in 2021.

On the other hand, other components ordered by Progress are also used in the production of the MS-400 engine, which is equipped with the RK-360MTS Neptune missile system.  It was announced that the first acceptance tests of Ukraine’s missile system developed by local facilities were completed at the end of August.  The new parts purchased may be a precursor to Neptune’s in production.
