First Indigenious AWACS by India

India gets ready to commission the first indigeniously developed airborne early warning and control system (AWACS) in late January, according to India’s Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO). Mounted on an Embraer-145, the new AWACS successfully completed all necessary tests before its induction. Indian AWACS is equipped with a 240-degree radar, and multiple communication and data links that can direct fighters against threats. Two more systems are also declared to be at the final stages of certification process. The country currently operates three Phalcon airborne warning and control system (AWACS) integrated on IL-76 aircraft.
