Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKEK) completed the acceptance tests of the first batch of Indigenous Infantry Rifle (MPT-76) in early January. There will be a ceremony for the rifle.
A commission put the first batch of 500 serial-production rifles to another test. MPT-76 has showed success in 42 different technical tests, including firing in extreme weather conditions such as -40°C and +60°C, and firing while dusty and/or muddy. This time the rifles have been fired 15 thousand times for the same tests. Now that MKEK completed MPT-76 tests successfully, there are no obstacles left for the rifles before delivery to Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). MKEK has a 20 thousand rifle order for TAF.
A ceremony will be held at MKEK's Kırıkkale facility to celebrate MPT-76's success where Defence Minister Fikri Işık will attend. During the ceremony the new polygon and test center will also be officially opened.
