The USA, one of the countries with the greatest severity of the virus epidemic, does not slow down in defence production.
Boeing, one of the largest aerospace and defence companies of the United States, has announced that it has terminated the production activities of the F/A-18 Super Hornet Block II platforms in recent weeks. The company announced that it will focus on the production of Block III Super Hornet for the US Navy in the future, and that the first prototype will roll-out in early May 2020. It was announced that the production of the first F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III was completed with images published from Boeing's official Twitter account. The platform, which rolled out from the production line located in St. Louis, Missouri, will be delivered to the US Navy following the necessary testing activities along with the second aircraft.
The F/A-18 Super Hornet Block IIIs have reduced radar cross section area, as well as external fuel tanks (CFT / Conformal Fuel Tanks) that significantly increase the operational range. The flight life of platforms equipped with advanced large digital multi function displays, new generation data link, Block II IRST and new type SATCOM (Satellite Communication) System has been announced as 9,000 flight hours.
