The FCAS Program, launched under the leadership of Germany and France, is expanding.
The new generation combat jet project known as FCAS (Future Combat Air System) or SCAF (Système de Combat Aérien du Futur) continues its progress. It was announced that the Spanish company Indra participated in the program. According to the statement made by the parties, the company will be involved in the Joint Concept Study (JCS) activities. The decision to join came exactly 11 months after Spain signalled participation in the program in September 2019.
Within the scope of JCS, the parties will carry out activities such as determining the system capabilities, developing a common architecture for the next generation weapon system, designing loyal wingmen that will accompany the new generation fighter. The weapon system called NGWS (Next Generation Weapon System) is mentioned as one of the eight most important steps in the FCAS Program.
