Embargo Defence from Altınay

Helicopter Securing and Transfer Systems, which was subject to an embargo when procured from abroad, was developed for the first time with domestic resources. The system, which will enter the inventory with TCG Istanbul (F515), the first ship of the İ-class frigates and ensure the safe operation of helicopters, has reached the stage of integration with the ship.

President of Defence Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir announced the development on his social media account as follows: “We are exceeding the embargoes one by one! The Helicopter Securing and Transfer System, which was subject to an embargo while procuring from abroad, was developed for the first time with domestic resources. The system will allow the helicopters to land safely on the ship, stabilize and tow to the hangar. The system, which will begin its first mission with the national frigate ISTANBUL, which will be put into service this year, will also take its place in new ships to be included in the inventory, increase our domestic rate in national ships, and join the export items of the defence industry. Congratulations to all involved.”

Within the scope of the studies under the coordination of the Presidency of Defence Industries, the contract for the “Helicopter Securing and Transfer System Supply” project was signed between STM Defence Technologies Engineering and Trade Inc. and Altınay Defence Technologies Inc. The system, which started production activities in March 2022, was put into operation in September. Factory acceptance of the system, which was fully functional in November, was completed in December. The personnel of the Naval Forces Command and the General Directorate of Shipyards affiliated to the Ministry of National Defence shared their views on product development.

The Helicopter Securing and Transfer System to be used in MİLGEMs can also serve in missions such as sea conditions-4. The position of the helicopter is calculated with the camera system, the laser system mounted on the helicopter, image processing. These calculated data catch the helicopter at a right angle by means of the quick catch car. While the helicopter is landing, the claw of the quick catch car catches the helicopter with a sudden movement. There is no need for personnel at the landing site. Single personnel can carry out the process from the control point.
