Elbit Systems announced on Tuesday that it has signed a contract worth approximately $107 million to provide, operate and maintain the new Main Battle Tank (MBT) simulation and training centres for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) Armoured Forces.

Elbit Systems’ training and simulation technology solutions are currently used by the USA, Israel, the UK, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland and many other countries.

The training centres are scheduled to be delivered over a three-year period, while the contract includes operation and maintenance services for an additional fifteen years. Advanced training centres will train the commanders and soldiers of the Armoured Units to ensure that regular and reserve units are ready.

All of the training systems, which integrate the operational subsystems of the tank and simulate the main and secondary armament capabilities, offer commanders and tank crews the opportunity to experience many real battlefield challenges. The system supports individual and collective training up to the company level.

Training centres include specialized stations designed to train crews in conjunction with operational intelligence, combat support and logistics units, and cover training the company in all of the operational combat scenarios. Integrated advanced enrolment and information capabilities enable repetition of events, from qualification training to on-duty training, as well as logging and data analysis, as well as performance tracking of trainees.
