Cyber Coalition Starts in Estonia

Cyber Coalition 2022, one of the world’s largest cyber defence exercises, took place in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, between 28 November and 2 December 2022.

The event brought together around 1,000 cyber defenders from Finland and Sweden, Georgia, Ireland, Japan, Switzerland, the European Union, as well as attendees from industry and academia, as well as 26 Allies. Participants were trained for five days to deal with real-life cyber challenges such as cyber-attacks on power grids, programs, NATO and Allied assets during operations. Along with these trainings, participants will increase their ability to defend networks and work together in cyberspace.

Cyber Coalition 2022 provides a unique platform for collaboration, experimentation, experience sharing and application development. Working together, it increases cyber resilience of individual participants as well as organizations, nations and NATO. The exercise has been held annually since 2008.

Cyber defence is one of the main tasks of NATO’s collective defence. At the Madrid Summit in June 2022, NATO Allies committed to furthering their efforts to improve their cyber defence capabilities, as well as furthering their cooperation with industry and other key stakeholders such as the EU.
