China says its aircraft carrier Liaoning took part at flight operations where J-15 carrier-borne fighters flew over South China Sea for the first time on Jan. 2. The aircraft carrier and her escorts rounded Taiwan and docked in Hainan. The People’s Liberation Army said the flight operations were carried in difficult weather conditions and the ship’s various helicopters participated in the drill as well. J-15s carried out mid-air refuelling exercises.
