Italy's submarines are changing guard. The last two of four Todaro-class U212A submarines built by Fincantieri for Italian Navy will replace the navy's two Sauro-class submarines. The first U212A (Salvatore Todaro, S526) has been commissioned in 2006 which was followed by the second submarine Scirè (S527) a year later. Third sub of Torado class Pietro Venuti (S528) was launched in 2014 and sea trials of the last ship Romeo Romei (S529) has begun in March last year.
