The F-39E Gripen fighters purchased by the Brazilian Air Force from Swedish-based firm SAAB are on their way to the port city of Itajaà (Santa Catarina, Brazil).
On August 20, 2020, the Brazilian Air Force test pilot aired the plane for Brazil for the first time. The platform, which remained in the air for 49 minutes, flew over the Baltic Sea. The fighter jet, which was loaded onto board from Sweden on August 29, 2020, will be delivered to Brazil on September 20, 2020.
The plane, which will be taken to Gavião Peixoto, where Embraer's flight-testing program will continue, is scheduled to take a special flight on Airmen's Day in Rio on October 23, 2020.
The first four of the 36 aircraft ordered by the Brazilian Government will reach its base between September and October. Eight more planes will be delivered next year. SAAB will then deliver six aircraft each year.
