As part of Brazil's Nuclear Propulsion Prototype Reactor of the Brazilian Submarine Development Program (PROSUB), nuclear reactor assembly has begun.
Information from the reactor, which will be examined at the Nuclear Power Generation Laboratory (LABGENE) complex, will be used in the construction of Brazil's first nuclear submarine, Álvaro Alberto.
Later in the program, turbogenerators and electric motors and other systems will be tested in a controlled way at LABGENE. Before the construction of Álvaro Alberto, it is targeted to confirm the operation of the reactor and various electromechanical systems integrated with it.
