Manufacturer of famous Predator and Reaper Drones, General Atomics’ Avenger Unmanned Aircraft System has been equipped with Lockheed Martin’s Legion Pod to search and tack multiple aerial targets.
The aim of the project is to increase the capability of autonomous systems in joint operations with manned and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The company has been experimenting with the Legion Pod flights since June.
During the flight, legion pod’s infrared search and tracking system IRST-21 detected several fast-moving target aircrafts in the area and transmitted target tracking information to Avenger.
Avenger followed the targets based on information from the Legion Pod.
