March 19, 2020Autonomous Unmanned Ground Vehicle Order
The works carried out to reduce the human factor in the warfare field never lose their importance. Unmanned ground vehicles, which are tailored for risky missions and whose effectiveness is enhanced with autonomous abilities, continue to progress day by day instead of on the battlefield.
The UK Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) announced on March 16 that it ordered an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). Three HORIBA MIRA production Viking 6×6 and one Titan tracked UGV were ordered as part of the purchase, with a total cost of £ 2.3 million. It is stated that the Vikings will be delivered next summer, and then the Titans will be delivered in the autumn of 2020. DSTL will go through the technological evaluation process as well as combat support training.
Thus, it is aimed to develop a significant awareness for the risk and limit assessment process for the Joint Tactical Autonomous Resupply and Replenishment / JTARR procurement process, which is a project of unmanned resupply system.
