Rheinmetall has integrated the MELLS (German acronym standing for multirole-capable light antitank missile system) missile into the Marder 1A5 infantry fighting vehicle, the company announced on 20 March. Following the successful conclusion of the study phase, the Bundeswehr subsequently ordered 44 MELLS retrofit kits, which were delivered in December 2017. The company said a total of 35 vehicles have been equipped with the new missile system integration kit so far. 

Rheinmetall is currently looking at ways of integrating the MELLS into the 1A3 and 1A5A1 versions of the Marder as well.
