North Korea carried out a ground jet test of a new high performance rocket engine on 18 March. The purpose of the test was to confirm the reliability of the engine's thrust power in the combustion chamber and some other technical features. Reportedly, the new engine can be used on missiles. The nation's leader Kim Jong-un said the test was of significant importance to erase the country's dependence on foreign technology.
