India successfully test-fired an Agni-III intermediate-range ballistic missile today, according to India's Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) who developed the nuclear-capable missile. The launch took place off of the Odisha coast and conducted by the Strategic Forces Command unit of the Indian Army. Having been in service since 2011, the missile's recent tests were aimed at verifying the technical systems and maintaining the combat readiness.

Agni-III has a strike range of more than 3,000 kilometers and capable of acrrying both conventional and nuclear warheads.
