80 Different Technologies in the Field of Acoustics

The Presidency of Defense Industry creates technology based on research-development road maps in the meeting of Focus Technology Web in the scope of technology gain studies.

The closing meeting of OTAG, which was established in 2020 with all stakeholder’s participation to determine the current capability of acoustic technologies in Turkey, and to determine the necessary national critical and advanced technologies was held at the SSB.

Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir said; “In the direction of our targets, our Presidency   has created a new structure to carry out our research-development studies faster and more dynamically to meet the short- and long-term needs of our Turkish Armed Forces and Police Forces within the framework of our research-development focused technology Roadmap.” 

Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir also said;” In the content of focused technology webs studies, we are carrying out our projects by working together with the common mind of our country in terms of advanced technology and by also prioritizing the project technology. In the purpose of determining the necessary acoustic technology capabilities and to gain the national critical and advanced technologies, our Presidency has established Acoustic Focus Technology with all stakeholder’s participation. Acoustic Focus Technology Web activities started with the launch on November 3 2020 with the participation of 26 universities and research centers and 208 people from 17 different companies, including Naval Forces Command and other 13 institutions with the participation of Acoustic Systems, Acoustic Transducers, Transduction equipment, Acoustic Signal/Data Processing and Electronics, Acoustic Propagation/Environment Modeling and Simulation. As a result of the meetings and the studies, 80 technology topics were determined and prioritized. Our aim is to publish the Acoustic OTAG Final Report in this year to create the Acoustic Technology Roadmap.”

Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir stated that as the Presidency, they are aiming to plan, follow and support the advanced technology acquisition with a holistic approach.

Demir pointed out that it is among their main objective to bring research-development projects to life, and that 4.1 billion TL worth of project work has been started in the field of research-development field in order to develop original products and technologies, 1.2 billion TL worth of projects has been executed. He stated that research-development expenditures correspond to approximately 14% of the total sector turnover.

Acoustic OTAG studies, the result of which were announced at the closing meeting, is expected to be completed in 2022 with the publication of the Acoustic OTAG Final Report with the Roadmap.

Eskişehir Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Tuncay DÖĞEROĞLU, Chief Of Staff, Naval Forces Command, TÜBİTAK, Turkish Petroleum Corporation, representatives of universities and defense industry companies also attended.
