ASELSAN and Excalibur International, a Czech defense company operating under the CSG Group, signed a strategic cooperation agreement to establish a Europe-based joint venture. Within the scope of the partnership, a new version of ASELSAN’s KORKUT air defense system integrated onto the Tatra Force 6×6 wheeled platform was introduced.
The newly established joint venture will focus on technical cooperation in key areas such as air defense, electronic warfare, smart munitions, and border security. As part of system localization, production is planned to be transferred to CSG facilities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The agreement is regarded as an important step toward strengthening defense cooperation in Central and Eastern Europe as well as globally.
Ahmet Akyol: “Our Industrial Presence Is Being Strengthened”
Emphasizing the strategic importance of the cooperation, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol made the following statement: “With this partnership with Excalibur International and the CSG Group, ASELSAN is strengthening its industrial presence in Europe and on a global scale, while delivering combat-ready air defense solutions tailored to the needs of allied armed forces. The integration of the KORKUT system onto the Tatra platform combines advanced sensor and fire control technologies with a mobile and reliable vehicle, presenting a flexible solution for today’s dynamic battlefield environment.”
Cost-Effective Solution Against UAV Threats
The integration of the KORKUT system onto the Tatra platform offers a fully capable alternative to comparable European air defense systems. Highlighting the system’s advantage particularly against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Excalibur International CEO Miloš Šivara stated: “The KORKUT system is an extremely effective solution, especially against enemy UAVs. The use of precise and programmable ammunition brings the cost of neutralizing a UAV close to the acquisition cost of the UAV itself. Such cost-effectiveness cannot be achieved with traditional missile-based systems.”
In line with the needs of the modern battlefield, the KORKUT system integrated onto the Tatra platform is expected to gain a strong position in the international market.
