The Russian Ministry of Defense broadcast the firing tests of the S-500 Triumfator-M system live in July.

One of the main capability gains in the S-500 system will be to hit missiles traveling at hypersonic speeds (Mach 5 and above).

Unlike ballistic missiles, which can travel at similar speeds, hypersonic missiles do not follow a ballistic trajectory and can perform various maneuvers to avoid close-in weapon systems and missile defence systems.

Russia began the development of the S-500 system in the early 2000s.

It is stated that some technological developments of the system, which is now ready for production, will continue.

It is stated that, unlike the S-400 system, the S-500s can use 2 new missiles capable of intercepting a nuclear ballistic missiles.

These missiles are intended to destroy the target with an accurate hit.
