May 30, 2017$11 Billion for “Freedom”
Saudi Arabia has signed a $11.25 billion contract with the US government on 20 May to purchase of four Lockheed Martin Multi-Mission Surface Combatants (MMSC). The vessels will be based on the US's Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship. The contract also covers study, design, and construction of operations support, support and training facilities, spares and repair parts, support and test equipment, and communications equipment employing Link 16 equipment.
