LM’s Long Range Radar Hit A Milestone

Lockheed Martin announced yesterday that the Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) hit a major milestone passing the preliminary design review phase. The relevant contract, with a value of $784 million, has been inked in October 2015 and the radar is epected to be operational by 2020 in Alaska. Developed for support of the ballistic missile defense system, primarily for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense system, LRDR is a gallium nitride-based, solid-state active electronically scanned array radar.
