Moscow delayed testing of RS-28 Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile for a month which was initially scheduled in March this year. The decision is reportedly due to the need of further testing of the missile's hardware, according to local media.  RS-28 Sarmat ICBM is expected it to be ready for use in 2018.Â
The Sarmat is set to replace the RS-36, a family of ICBMs and space launch vehicles that entered service in the 1970s and 1980s. The missile, weighing at least 100 tons, features a large payload capacity – reportedly up to 10 tons – and is expected to have up to 10 heavy or 16 lighter warheads.
