USS Albuquerque (SSN 706), a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine, has been decomissioned, announced on 28 February by the US Navy. A ceremony was held for the submarine, which had been in service for 33 years, at Keyport Undersea Museum on 27 February. Speaking at the event, the commander of Submarine Group 9 Rear Adm. John Tammen shared some information on this senior sub, stating that USS Albuquerque had been deployed 21 times to different parts of the world, accumulating approximately 1,1 million nautical miles, performed one thousand 75 dives and participated in over 18 international naval exercises.
