USAF Cancelled JSTARS Replacement

The US Air Force decided to cancel the JSTARS recapitalization programme in its FY2019 budget proposal. Instead, the service will replace it with a network of existing and new sensors linked to a ground-based command and control system.
USAF was planning to acquire 17 JSTARS platforms in replacement for Northrop Grumman E-8C in its inventory. However, the new budget proposal did not include funding for the programme. E-8C JSTARSs are slated to retire in mid-2020s.
