An RQ-4 Global Hawk surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) arrived at Yokota Air Base, Japan on 1 May for a five-month deployment. The aircraft is part of the 69th Reconnaissance Group and provides near real-time aerial imagery reconnaissance support to U.S. and partner nations, according to the U.S. base. Global Hawk is capable of capturing aerial images and electronic data from a maximum altitude of 18 thousand meters.
