ULAK Solves Network Problems in Disaster Area

ULAK Communication Inc. continues its efforts to solve the network problems that occurred after the disaster that took place in Kahramanmaraş and affected many provinces.

ULAK Communications, to carry out R&D and engineering activities of mobile and broadband communication systems used by commercial network operators, to manufacture, test, assemble and integrate, sell and market, import and export these systems and spare parts; provides training, maintenance and support services. ULAK Communication, which was put into service for communication interrupted due to network disruptions in the earthquake region, took its place in disaster areas.

According to Anadolu Agency (AA), ULAK Communications continues its technical support for the problems in the disaster area since the first day of the disaster. Zafer Orhan, General Manager of ULAK Communications: “We have formed 12 teams. The teams are in contact with the Crisis Coordination Centre established by the Governor’s Office. They are also in coordination with the Information Technologies and Communication Authority and GSM operators. We go to the determined areas together and intervene. The main problem is the power cut.

Since there is no energy, the base stations are technically disabled. We add generators to stations in this situation. This time, the need for fuel arises. Then we transfer fuel to keep the base station alive. We ensure the uninterrupted operation of the base station and therefore the continuity of communication. Another problem is the lack of network. What we are facing is not a disaster but a disaster. It’s extraordinary, the destruction of the century. There is no undamaged ground, no underground, no cables, no network. The fact that the communication in normal times has increased 4-5 times at the moment also appears as a difficulty in technical communication. With the works we have carried out, we have raised 65 fields. Each field provides the communication of thousands of people. Each of our friends is working like a cobweb. God bless them. Everyone is hungry, sleepless and selflessly doing their best.”

ULAK Communications continued its activities in other cities affected by the earthquake such as Adıyaman, Osmaniye, Hatay and Adana after the centre of Kahramanmaraş.
