Russia has signed an agreement with JSC Zavod Dagdizel, the oldest underwater weapons producer of the country. Under the agreement, 73 UET-1 multi purpose electric torpedoes will be supplied to the Russian Navy.
The agreement, which amounted to US $ 126.5 million, was set at five years. According to a statement made by an officer in the Russian Navy, the UET-1 torpedoes will replace the USET-80 torpedoes already in use by the Russian Navy.
According to a statement made by JSC Dagdizel, mass production of the torpedo components will begin this year. Tests of the weapon, which is faster and better in detection than its predecessor, are planned to be carried out next year.
