Turkish Ministry of National Defence has announced today on its official Twitter account that 15 new indigenously-developed Common Aperture Targeting System (CATS), which are to be used on national unmanned aerial vehicles, have been delivered to Turkish Armed Forces. The systems will be used in counter-terrorism operations. 

Developed by Turkish company ASELSAN, CATS electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance and targeting system was designed for fixed-wing and rotary-wing airborne platforms, including Unmanned Air Systems (UASs), helicopters and aircrafts. Weighing 61 kgs, the system adopts various advanced features such as laser range finder and target designator, laser pointer and illuminator, inertial measurement unit (IMU) and low light (LL-NIR) camera. Being able to track multiple targets simultaneously, CATS can operate in very low temperatures in high altitudes.
