U.S. Drones Expensive for India

India wants to buy 30 MQ-9 Reaper or Predator-B Drones after the United States announced that unmanned aerial systems with a speed of less than 800km/h could be exported.

New Delhi, which thinks the platforms will be worth about US$3 billion in a possible sales deal, may stop buying drones from the United States due to financial constraints.

India may back down on the purchase of platforms from the United States, Sputnik reported, based on a senior source. “Financial restraint is one of the main reasons behind the decision, and we are still assessing the advantage our armed forces can gain from the specified drones,” the source said.
