The 2025 summary video shared by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) revealed the massive scale Turkey has reached in defense technologies. Spanning from the Blue Homeland to space, and from unmanned systems to ballistic missiles, 2025—marked by a new achievement almost every month—stands out as a “golden year” for the Turkish defense ecosystem. Here is the month-by-month 2025 report card of the Turkish defense industry.
First Quarter of 2025: Firsts at Sea and in the Air
In the first months of the year, naval platforms and munition integrations on unmanned aerial vehicles particularly drew attention.
January:
MİLGEM-6 İZMİR and MİLGEM-7 İZMİT were launched, while the ANKA III unmanned combat aircraft struck a target at an altitude of 20,000 feet using the TOLUN munition. Bayraktar TB2 achieved a world first by certifying its “autonomous spin recovery” capability.
February:
The third firing test of the TAYFUN Ballistic Missile was successfully completed. While GÖKSUR conducted its first firing in a maritime environment, TÜRKSAT 6A carried out its first test broadcast in its final orbit.
March:
The land-based ATMACA reached a record range, while the AKINCI UCAV performed its first flight with the national MURAD AESA radar.
Second Quarter: TB3 and TCG ANADOLU Cooperation
Between April and June, the Turkish defense industry focused on doctrine-changing operational capabilities.
April:
Bayraktar TB3 made a fully autonomous landing and takeoff on the TCG ANADOLU, opening a new chapter in aviation history. HÜRJET reached a speed of Mach 1.2, reinforcing its supersonic capability.
May:
The ATMACA missile conducted its first live firing after entering inventory. The first export of KARGU was realized, while KARGU FPV was tested with an armor-piercing warhead.
June:
A sales agreement was signed with Indonesia for the National Combat Aircraft KAAN. At sea, the REİS-class submarine MURATREİS was launched.
Third Quarter: Export Records and Integration Successes
The second half of the year began with the massive contract volume brought by the IDEF 2025 fair.
July:
IDEF 2025 broke a record with a contract volume of 9 billion dollars. The Gendarmerie General Command received its first AKINCI system.
August:
A HİSAR-D RF firing was conducted via the National Vertical Launch System (MİDLAS). The integration of the ÇAKIR missile on the MARLİN UGV was completed.
September:
MİLGEM-8 (TCG İÇEL) was launched. While the SANCAR UGV entered inventory, Turkish companies continued their rise on the “Defense News Top 100” list.
Year-End: Serial Production and Space Vision
The final quarter of 2025 became a period in which tangible outputs of long-anticipated major projects were obtained.
October:
Serial production deliveries of the ALTAY Main Battle Tank officially began. HÜRJET completed its 300th test flight, while production accelerated in the National Fast Attack Craft project with the laying of the keel for the first block.
November:
SİPER-1 achieved a direct hit in an autonomous battery firing. The KIZILELMA unmanned combat aircraft successfully passed radar and munition tests by conducting formation flights with F-16s.
December:
KIZILELMA destroyed its first aerial target using the MURAD AESA radar and the GÖKDOĞAN missile. In the space domain, ASELSAN LUNA-1 and FGN-TUG-S01 vehicles entered service. A historic threshold was crossed in the MİLDEN (National Submarine) project with the start of construction of the first test block.
