The increasingly bitter tone of messages from the United States to Turkey threatens not only the future of bilateral relations but also the future stability of Europe as well as the global system.

Turkey’s decision as an independent country to supply the S-400 air defence system from Russia, has activated a lobby seeking to damage Turkish-American relations. 

This lobby, whose anti-Turkish attitude has become more acute in time particularly in the aftermath of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s acrimonious criticism of his Israeli counterpart in January 2009 in Davos, has a major goal of depriving Turkey of the F-35 aircraft.
