The first two Texan T6C advanced turboprops have been delivered to the UK Royal Air Force (RAF), announced on 16 February. The trainer aircraft arrived at RAF Valley Station.
Manufactured by Textron Aviation, the aircraft is a part of a planned fleet of 10 to be used in Basic Flight Training from 2019. The Texan T6C fleet will offer trainee fighter pilots a lead-in aircraft to prepare them for their Advanced Jet Training on RAF's existing fleet of Hawk T2 aircraft which are already operating at RAF Valley Station.
