The Turkish Naval Forces (Dz.K.K) will supply two Amphibious Ships (LST – Landing Ship Tank) under Amphibious Ship (LST) Procurement Contract by Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM). The main mission function of the vessel wil be Amphibious Operation and Fire Support. BAYRAKTAR, the first vessel built by Anadolu Shipyard (ADIK), will be delivered to the Turkish Naval Forces during a ceremony to be held at ADIK Shipyard on 22 April 2017.
The second ship of the project, “SANCAKTAR”, will be delivered to the service in October this year.
The vessels to be built under the amphibious LST procurement project, the contract of which was signed on 16 June, 2011 between SSM – ADIK and was launched on 17 June, 2013, will be fitted by the Command Control System developed by HAVELSAN and the Stabilized Machine Rifle Platform (ASELSAN) STAMP) along with many electronic systems and weapon systems.
The vessels will accomodate four LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) landing vehicles capable of carrying 8 tons of payload or 40 troops each.
