UkroBoronProm has developed a new upgrade of theT-72A main battle tank designated as T-72AMT. According to the company's release on 14 August, T-72AMT features 'Knife' explosive reactive armour (ERA) which is already used on the Bulat and Oplot tanks. The upgraded version is armed with 125 mm Kombat (Combat) gun-fired laser-guided missile capable of penetrating 550 mm of armour at a distance of 5 km. The tanks will use Turkish ASELSAN's radio communication systems. Testing of this upgraded version is due to begin by the end of August.
