STM signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar-based Barzan Holding at the DIMDEX 2026 fair for the local production and development of unmanned aerial and maritime systems.
Defense industry cooperation between Turkey and Qatar is deepening through unmanned systems technologies. The agreement, signed during the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) held in Doha, aims to produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and unmanned maritime platforms locally in Qatar.
Signing Ceremony with High-Level Participation
The signing ceremony was attended by Sheikh Saud Bin Abdulrahman Bin Hasan Bin Ali Al Sani, Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, President of Turkey’s Defense Industry. The document was signed by STM CEO Özgür Güleryüz and Barzan Holding Group CEO Eng. Mohammed Bin Bader Al Sadah.
Local Production and Technology Integration
Within the framework of the cooperation established between STM and Barzan Holding, the parties will explore local production and joint development models, covering tactical UAV systems as well as unmanned maritime platforms. The agreement aims for STM’s autonomous systems, proven on the battlefield, to be produced locally in Qatar, with platform integrations implemented and operational capabilities enhanced. Under this strategic partnership, STM will contribute as a development partner to Barzan Holding in engineering, system development, and technology integration, playing a key role in strengthening Qatar’s defense technology ecosystem.
“Sharing Our Technologies Preferred Across 4 Continents”
Following the signing ceremony, STM CEO Özgür Güleryüz emphasized the importance of sharing STM’s engineering expertise with allied countries, stating: “This goodwill agreement signed with Barzan Holding aims for our tactical UAV systems and unmanned maritime capabilities, preferred by more than 15 countries across 4 continents, to be locally produced in Qatar.
