‘Sovershenny’ Entered Service

Russian Navy's corvette Sovershenny has entered service with the Pacific Fleet with a flag hoisting ceremony, according to the service's statement made on 20 July. Designed by Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and built by Amur Shipyard, the corvette Sovershenny is the fourth Project 20380 (NATO reporting name: Steregushchy-class) vessel and the first in the Pacific Fleet. The corvette has first laid down in 2006 and launched in 2015.

The Project 20380 corvettes have a displacement of 2 thousand 200 tonnes, can reach a maximum speed of 27 knots and have an operational range of 4 thousand nautical miles. The vessels can be deployed in coastal patrol, escort and anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations. Sovershenny is fitted with an Arsenal A-190 100mm naval gun as its main weapon and two 30mm six-barrelled AK-630M surface-to-air missile systems as well as Uran and Redut-K Vertical Launch System (VLS).
