July 27, 2017Seventh FREMM Frigate Completed First Sea Trials
Italy's seventh FREMM frigate, Federico Martinengo, had its first sea going in the Gulf of La Spezia on 18 July. The vessel is the third in General Purpose configuration and is planned to be delivered to Italian Navy in April 2018.
During the first sea trials, various critical and new systems have been tested such as the new solid-state Surface Search Radar and the new Conformal Array IFF. Martinengo is expected to complete the sea trials by the end of 2017.
