The CEO of Russian Uralvagonzavod (UVZ) machine building company,Oleg Sienko, announced today that the advanced main battle tank T-14 Armata's serial production is planned to begin in 2018. Sienko added that they might cut back some of the tests in order to reach this goal. First unveiled at the May 9 Victory Day military parade in Moscow in 2015, T-14 MBT features an unmanned turret armed with a 125-mm smoothbore cannon and a 7,62-mm remote-control machine gun. Powered with a 1 thousand 500-horsepower engine, Armata has a minimum 500 km operational range.
