ROBOIK 2018 Begins

Turkish Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) will hold three different competitions in two areas this year under the “ROBOİK” roof, which promotes the design of unmanned and autonomous systems which increasingly gain importance in defence industry.

The launch meeting of the competitions was held on May 22 in Ankara with the participation of Undersecretary for Defence Industries Dr. İsmail Demir and of institutions and organizations supporting the competition. ROBOİK, which was held for the first time last year, will not only be a design contest this year; the “Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Prototype Competition” to be organized for the first time and the “Unmanned / Autonomous Marine Systems Industrial Design Competition” will also be organized.

In his statement on the subject, SSM stated that the prototype competitions were focused on the scenario that autonomous tasks were front-line, especially in the context of feedback from the armed forces. 

In the “Unmanned/Autonomous Land Vehicles (IKA) Development Contest”, 30 thousand, 20 thousand and 10 thousand TL will be awarded to the winners, respectively. “Unmanned Underwater Vehicle Prototype Competition” winners will be awarded 30 thousand, 20 thousand and 10 thousand TL  while 25 thousand, 15 thousand and 10 thousand TL will be awarded to the winners of “Unmanned/Autonomous Marine Systems Industrial Design Competition”.
