Rheinmetall will upgrade Halifax Class frigates' softkill systems. Under the deal of US $ 15 million, MASS (Multi Ammunition Softkill System) systems will be upgraded which is integrated to the Halifax Class frigates. Upgradingt work will be carried out between 2018-2022.

MASS, the decoy system, was integrated into the Halifax Class frigates in 2009. In the scope of the work, dual launchers will replace with triple launchers. The project will be run by Rheinmetall Canada. The MASS was developed at the Fronau plant ofRheinmetall, which was produced to protect the surface combattants from anti-ship missiles, infrared systems and rocket-propelled asymmetric systems.
