Germany will supply laser markers for infantry rifles. Bundeswehr's Equipment, Information Technology and Support Unit has signed an agreement with Rheinmetall for supply of EUR 5 million. Under the agreement, 1745 rifle mounted laser marking kits will be delivered to special forces. Delivery is expected to be completed by 2019.
The Variable Tactical Aiming Module (VTAL), which will be delivered by Germany, has a watertight metal body. Equipped with MIL-STD 1913 / STANAG 4694 interface, the system has two “Lumenator” illuminators based on LEDs. In addition to the illuminator with two versions that are customized for use in standard and hostage operations, the use of VTAL can be facilitated with equipment such as extension cables and tactical keys. The structure that allows the aiming with the iron sigts is also customized for fitting different attachments at the same time. Visible laser beams from VTAL can also be used with infrared vision systems if needed. The system can adjust the intensity of the laser beam to the user's desire. The production of VTAL will take place in Rheinmetall Soldier Electronics (Rheinmetall Soldier Electronics) located in the Stokach region of Germany.
