Qatar and Russia have signed a memorandum-of-understanding (MoU) on 25 October for increased military and technical cooperation. Under the intergovernmental agreement, Qatar will supply armaments, air defence systems and a variety of military equipment.
The agreements were signed between Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu and Qatari Minister of State for Defence Affairs Khalid bin Mohammed al-Atiyya. The meeting also discussed a number of regional and international issues, in particular, the Gulf crisis and its implications for regional security
Doha is highly interested in purchasing Russian technologies for the production of air defence systems.
