This situation is unlike the Arab-Israeli wars of 1967 or 1973. The chain of escalating conflicts herald for the first time in the region’s history a great confrontation in many fronts.
The Middle East is getting prepared for the greatest chaos in its recent history. Looking at the subject from Israel’s point of view, we observe that this country is proceeding towards the most uncertain days in its 70 years of history. For Israel, there is no longer a collective threat expected from its Arab neighbours. Current circumstances do not require them to wage war against large armies in order to protect Jerusalem.
Egypt under the military regime has completely turned into a Western satellite. Meanwhile, fragmentation of Iraq and Syria lingers. In a situation, where these three countries are dysfunctional, it is normal for Israel to feel much more secure and comfortable; nevertheless, the developments indicate the contrary.
Killing of many unarmed demonstrators during the protests that began in Gaza Strip and the spread of resistance to the West Bank, gradually render impossible for Israel to hold on to a strategy of coercion against Palestine.
