Russia is planning to develop two vessels with capable of carrying helicopters by 2027. To be powered with diesel and gas turbine combined propulsion systems, the development process is expected to begin in 2018. The ships will primarily carry Ka-52K helicopters, as well as Ka-27, Ka-29 and Ka-31 helicopters. Although the main contractor is yet to be selected, the work will be conducted under 2018-2025 state arms program.
