Payment Delay in KF-X Program

A financial problem has emerged in the KF-X (Korean Fighter-eXperimental) fifth-generation aircraft project developed with a joint subsidiary of the Republic of Korea and Indonesia.

Although KF-X is a partner, Indonesia owes hundreds of millions of Dollars, officials said.

It was announced that Indonesia would have a delay of $420 million to pay for the project.

Indonesia, which agreed to cover 20% of the fifth-generation aircraft program (8.8 trillion Indonesian Rupees), currently pays only 227 billion Indonesian Rupees in total.

The prototype of the aircraft, which was developed under the main contractor of Korean Aerospace Industry (KAI), was introduced in early September 2020. Work on the prototype is expected to be completed in the first half of next year.
